For Managers & Employers

Healthcare Professional Portrait

Supporting a member of staff who wants to study while continuing to work can feel like a big decision, and this page is here to make that process easier.

Whether your team member is applying to the South Central INSIGHT Programme or balancing their studies alongside their clinical or professional role, you’ll find everything you need to understand what the programme involves and how you can best support them. You’ll also find a dedicated Manager FAQs section with clear, practical answers to the questions employers most commonly ask. Our goal is to help you feel confident, informed and supported as you champion your staff member’s development, creating a positive experience for both your team and the aspiring researcher you’re supporting.

How to apply to SCIP

Ready to apply? Here you can view an example of a previous application form, to help guide you through the process. Please note, you must apply to both SCIP for funding and your chosen university by the advertised SCIP deadline.

We strongly encourage you to contact both programme leads and SCIP early to help shape a strong application that aligns with both requirements. You don’t need to choose a local or employer-linked university, so take time to find the partner course that best fits your goals, work, and life. Please do note that full-time study alongside full-time work is not permitted.
